Day 1-ish: 18 hours of travel... But we made it!

The trip has officially started. The three ladies with backpacks, Sir Johan with his rolling bag. Our first stop was Atlanta.

Our second stop was Amsterdam.  Johan was so excited because the Starbucks barista spelled his name correctly, an achievement rarely reached by American baristas. Mandy, or should I say Wendy, was less impressed.

When we finally arrived in Budapest, food was our highest priority. Fun fact about Mandy, her family owned a Hungarian restaurant in Indiana. Naturally she is our food guide. Pictured below is our first bowl of goulash. We also had a triditinal flatbread dish. The food was worth the 18 hour trip.

We finished our day at the market getting the essentials and then on to our home for the 4 nights. We have an awesome 2 bedroom/ 2 bathroom apartment in the heart of the Jewish district.

It has a nice big living space where we can plan for our next day adventures. There is Mandy working hard to find us some more Hungarian specialties to eat tomorrow.

The two showers are identical and we all aren't sure what to make of not having a wall or curtain that goes all the way around us. But nothing is better than a shower after 2 days of travel...

And in true Owen form, Kelly has already found her place for the night.

Tomorrow, we will start the exploration of Budapest off with a Budabike Tour. We can't wait! We're crossing our fingers that the rain will stay away...

Although we don't know how to pronounce it just right yet... Jó éjszakát (good night) from Budapest!
