Today we adventured over into the Buda side of Budapest. It was hilly and beautiful. We started by walking along th Danube river promenade staring at the beautiful palace.
Then we wandered across the famous Chain Bridge
Finally to the other side, we decided it would be worth it to jump in the Funicular and get a ride up the hill to the palace. Here is the track.
And here is the actual car we rode up in.
The view along the way definitely didn't suck...
And then arrived at the palace.
Throughout the day we went all the way around the palace exploring the grounds. The next few shots are just a taste of what we saw. It was pretty fantastic.
Under the palace grounds, there was a labyrinth. It was f-ing terrifying. We were definitely not prepared for this. We responsibly took a picture of the map, so as not to get lost. After all, we are responsible for producing a daily blog!
But then it just got darker and darker.
And shorter and more narrow
We used our cell phones for more than just snapping pics for the blog. The pic below is a side by side of what it looked like in the cave with and without a flash. Again I say, terrifying!
But we made it out and headed to Fisherman's Bastion.
And saw an ornate church on the way
We took in the views, as well as a delicious bottle of Hungarian wine.
The full panoramic from Fisherman's Bastion
Next, another thermal bath, Gallért Baths, because when in Budapest...
After a soak, we headed back to Pest and explored the Central Market. There were vendors selling spices, meats, fruit, clothes, trinkets, etc...
We finished the night with a Hungarian feast of goulash, cabbage rolls, and a flight of Polinka. Cheers!
Tomorrow we head to Vienna via a new uber type car service called DayTrip, with a stop in Bratislava, Slovakia and Kreuzenstein, Austria.
